Exciting news: I received the chance to go to an early screening of “Long Shot,” a new rom-com movie, starring Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron, and it was one of the funniest, deep-hearted movies I have ever watched.
Seth Rogen plays Fred Flarsky, an investigative journalist who likes to give his most-unfiltered opinions about relevant topics in today’s society, and Charlize Theron plays Charlotte Field, a high-achieving politician. Oh, and Fred’s former babysitter.
One evening, Fred runs into Charlotte, and after a quick conversation chatting about how they know each other, Charlotte becomes intrigued by Fred, and ultimately asks him to be a speech writer for her during her presidential run. GO CHARLOTTE.
They form a close bond as they travel to numerous countries, attend parties for her campaign, reminisce about their times in grade school, and experience new things, like Charlotte taking molly. All I can say about that entire scene is YIKES (but, in the best way).
What I love most about this film is that the two characters could not be more diverse, but they form this relationship and love for one another that they simply cannot ignore. Also, there are so many times in the movie where Charlotte is pressured to end her relationship with Fred, due to her presidential run and overall political presence, but she ultimately cannot hold back, and I think both actors displayed such an amazing on-screen romance for viewers to watch and enjoy.
And, IT’S HILARIOUS IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY. As all movie lovers know, Seth Rogen is a one-of-a-kind human being with such a big presence in the comedy movie world. And, with this movie, he and Charlize Theron undoubtedly display the best sides to their comedic personality.
Go watch “Long Shot” this weekend! You will not be disappointed.
